15 Fun Things Couples Should Do Together Right Now

15 Fun Things Couples Should Do Together Right Now

When the kids aren't around, it's easy to want to sit around and do nothing for a change. Although you may want to do this, your marriage can easily fall into a rut if you and your spouse don't take advantage of those stolen moments with each other. Balance your children and married life with fun things couples should do to strengthen their bond with one another.

1. Plan a Date Night Together

Parents are always up for a spontaneous date night, but it's also important to completely plan a date night together too. Date nights also don't have to be expensive to be fun either. Plan a cheap date night that gets both of you out of the house without having to make sure your family budget won't suffer.

2. Exercise Together

Many of the workouts that are best for women are also great for men too. By teaming up and exercising together, you'll be able to spend time with one another at the same time as getting in better shape.

3. Cook Together

Have you ever heard the old saying, "The couple that cooks together stays together"? You and your spouse should wait to eat dinner until the kids go to bed at least once a month. This allows you to cook a meal together and enjoy a nice quiet dinner for just the two of you. If you can get out of the house, try taking a cooking class together to learn some new recipes and cooking techniques.

4. Redecorate Together

Pick a room to redecorate together, whether it's a room that needs to be organized or one that your family uses often and you want to freshen up the look. Decorating the perfect room isn't about being a master interior designer either; it's about the time you and your spouse spend together while working on something your whole family will enjoy.

5. Dance Together

May I have this dance? Play those old records if you have them or put on your current favorite songs to dance to. Ask your spouse for a dance in the kitchen, or try taking your moves out on the town and hit the dance clubs.

6. Blog Together

You and your spouse are a great team, so try something new and blog together. Brainstorm for topics that you two would enjoy co-blogging about, from your common interests to a she said/he said type of blog. After picking a topic, work together to come up with a blog design, pick a template, and start blogging.

7. Read a Book Together

Curl up on the couch or in bed and read a book together, whether it's reading out loud or reading together on your own, it's a great way to spend some quality time with one another. Start your own private book club for the two of you and then discuss the books you're reading over coffee or your favorite meal.

8. Relax Together

Most guys won't jump at the chance to spend their free time at a spa, but you can convince your spouse to have an at-home spa day where you both relax while spending time together. If he still doesn't want to do a spa day, turn on some relaxing music, dim the lights, and get cozy on the couch together to unwind.

9. Take Up New Hobbies Together

If he loves playing video games but you love scrap booking, find a common ground and look for hobbies that you would enjoy together. There could be a simple connection between your hobbies, such as bird watching on a nature walk. He modifies his love of hunting to spying through binoculars, and you can take pictures of the birds you find for a special scrapbook.

10. Play Games Together

You probably played your fair share of games throughout your life, whether they've been board games or on a PlayStation. Whether you're playing some Mario Cart or sitting around playing cards, games can be a great stress reliever, present you with laughable moments, and test your competitive spirit.

11. Watch TV and Movies Together

Sure, you and your spouse watch TV and movies together; it's one of the most common activities to do at the end of another long day of raising kids. You should actually watch TV or movies together with just the two of you in the room... but with no devices and no sitting on opposite sides of the beds. What you should be doing is holding hands with your spouse so you can snuggle and get closer when doing something as simple as watching TV or a movie.

12. Review Your Life Together

You've spent a lot of time together and there are many more years to come. It's time to take some time to review your life together, whether it's by pulling old yearbooks or talking about old memories. Look at what you've experienced over the years together as a couple and keep looking until you find your most recent photos together as a family.

13. Get Away Together

Pack your suitcase and get away for the night, weekend, or a week-long trip. A romantic getaway recharges both of you, and it gives you some quality time outside of your familiar surroundings. If your budget is tight, opt for a one-night excursion to someplace not super fancy that's close to your home.

14. Renew Your Vows

Are you looking for something to do together that's a little more elaborate? Renew your vows in front of family and friends or have a private ceremony in your living room. Renewing your vows is a great way to remember the bond you share with one another, and it's also a fun way to incorporate your kids into the vow renewal ceremony.

15. Celebrate Together

Every day is a celebration of your marriage and family, so it's important to celebrate those special moments. Mark your calendar to celebrate special dates (first date, date of engagement, and wedding date) but also remember to celebrate other life moments. If your spouse gets a promotion, cook a special meal to celebrate. If you pass an annual exam with flying colors, go out on a nice date. These regular life moments are often swept under the rug, but celebrating them when they happen is another way to celebrate you, your spouse, your family, and the life you share together.

Remember that you don't have to go to a super fancy restaurant or get all dressed up to have a meaningful night with your spouse; it's all about the thought behind what you do and how you do it.
